Division 1: Carew 3-1 Pennar Robins

Scott Ferney bagged a brace for Carew who gained a workmanlike victory over Pennar Robins in gale force winds and rain at the Recreation Ground.

This was The Rooks’ seventh win of the campaign while the visitors slipped to an eighth defeat. The hosts narrowly led 2-1 at half time and added a further goal in the second period to seal the points.

In the 21st minute The Rooks opened their goal scoring account, Fraser Finlay’s corner was met by a near post Shaun Whitfield header.

Eleven minutes later and the hosts grabbed their second of the match. Another Finlay corner was finished clinically by Ferney from six yards.

Five minutes before the break and The Robins pulled one back. Rooks’ keeper Tom Davies parried a free kick and former rugby player Josh Hicks, on as a sub, drilled in from 12 yards.

The hosts, with the wind at their backs in the second period, dominated possession and territory - but it wasn’t until the 82nd minute before they scored their third goal.

It stemmed from Finlay’s third assist of the afternoon as Ferney slotted past Rory Williams and there was no way back for Chris Lloyds’ Robins.
