Chepstow Racecourse stages a six-race card with a prize fund worth over £54,000 on Friday, January in which Pembrokeshire handler Rebecca Curtis seeks to hold live claims with talented hurdler Just A Thought. The experts at the Racing Post have previewed all the action with excellent analysis, stats and top tips.
Pembrokeshire handler Rebecca Curtis has saddled 25 winners at Chepstow from 191 runners, a respectable 13% strike-rate, in the last five seasons and has just the one runner on the card who has leading claims. The consistent Just A Thought runs in the £10,500 TPS 360 Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (3.20pm) and finished second at the track last time out. The eight-year-old son of Stowaway will enjoy the drop back in trip and has the services of champion jockey Richard Johnson who has enjoyed five winners from 33 rides, an impressive 15% strike-rate.
Curtis has only had five runners since December, but this looks a good opportunity for Just a Thought to get his head in front. Conditions are likely to be very testing at the track, but the former bumper winner has winning form on soft ground and ran a number of creditable races in defeat last term.
