Division 1: Carew 5-0 Fishguard Sports

Scott Ferney and Shaun Whitfield scored a brace each to help Carew to a comfortable five-goal win against Fishguard Sports at home.

Carew are third in the table on the same points of second placed Hakin United following their tenth win of the campaign.

The Rooks led 1-0 at half time, Haydn Shapcott scored in the 35th minute, it was created by Sonny Phillips’ free kick in the box and the veteran made no mistake through a crowded area.

With the wind at their back the hosts dominated the second period against The Sports. In the 57th minute Ferney latched onto a ball over the top showed good strength to fend off the centre back and duly went on to score.

In the 68th minute Whitfield was on target with the third, Spencer Williams shot was parried by Sports’ keeper Patrick Hughes and he pounced on the rebound.

Ten minutes later and Ferney drilled in the fourth and in the 82nd minute Whitfield headed home the fifth to complete a good day at the office for the on-form Rooks.
