Division 1: Neyland 4-1 St Clears

Neyland gained an important win over second from bottom St Clears at the Athletic Ground.

The Nomads led 2-1 at half time and then struck two late goals to put the result beyond doubt.

The hosts opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Jay Kennedy got on the end of Jason Griffiths’ square ball inside the box.

The visitors equalised in the 13th minute with the best strike of the afternoon, Will Evans hit an unstoppable 25-yard shot which flew in the top corner of Patrick Hannon’s net.

Four minutes before the break and The Nomads regained the lead. Kennedy pounced with a close range far post tap in.

The second half was an even affair and it wasn’t until the 86th minute that the home outfit got the third. Olly Hughes closed down Saints’ keeper Peter Griffiths’ and blocked his clearance for Jason Griffiths to finish in the bottom corner.

A minute later and Hughes grabbed the fourth, getting on the end of Griffiths’ clever flick on for a cool finish.
