Pembrokeshire football fixtures for Saturday, March 7th:

WWFA Intermediate Cup quarter finals:

Goodwick United 2-1 Giants Grave (1.30pm)

It's a quick turnaround for Goodwick after last night. They are a fit side but 90 minutes on The Meadow would have taken something out of them.

It will mean they need to dig deep here, but so far in this competition Wayne O'Sullivan's side have done it the hard way by coming through ties with Rockspur, Bridge, and Hakin.

Giants Grave won't be fazed by a trip to Pembrokeshire mind. They have already won at Carew and Monkton to get here and their mid-table position in the Neath Premier is deceiving as they have ample games in hand on the rest.

When I saw them in the semi final last season (beaten 4-2 by Carew) they looked exposed at the back against pace and that is something the likes of Rhys Dalling, Steff Williams and Jordan Griffiths can exploit.

But they are also a physical team and will make this tough. Goodwick's recent West Wales Cup pedigree leans me towards them but once again, this is a dangerous test for them.

Neyland 2-4 Trostre Sports (2pm)

Neyland have had a reprieve, and now have a shot to nothing for a place in the semi finals.

I expect them to be all guns blazing tomorrow. They have never been in a West Wales Cup quarter final, have little to play for in the league, and chances like this don't come round very often. They will threaten and if Jason Griffiths especially is in form in front of goal they have a chance.

But Trostre's form this season has been too good to go against them. After 14 league games they top the Carmarthenshire Premier with 13 wins and a draw, and so far in the West Wales Cup they have won four games and scored 29 goals.

Neyland should raise their game and test them, but they simply have to defend well to have any chance.

Division 1 (2pm):

Carew 10-1 Saundersfoot Sports

It gets no better for Saundersfoot after that 13-1 defeat at Monkton on Saturday, and this could be another long day for them.

Carew have won every league game in 2020 and after the frustration of Tuesday night, will at leats be fully rested up for this weekend.

Their squad for that semi final, which fell foul of floodlight failure, looked strong and the won't want to lose any momentum ahead of the rescheduled game on the 18th.

Saundersfoot need to travel as strong as they can and dig deep or things could get messy again.

Fishguard Sports 3-2 Pennar Robins

Again Fishguard stood toe to toe with rivals Goodwick on Saturday only to lose 4-3, but it was something of a redemption after being thumped in Carew.

But now Brian Kinsella will want a return to winning ways. Weather and other circumstances have left them short on league games of late and the Sports have not actually picked up three points since January 4th.

Pennar boss Chris Lloyd will also want a return to form. The Robins have struggled for results of late but did push Hakin hard on Saturday, with a Luke Phillips goal making it 1-1 in the second half before The Vikings finished strong.

Both teams should be up for this, but league positions alone mean the Sports start favourites.

Hakin United 6-1 Narberth

Scott Davies would have been pleased with how his side came through in difficult weather in the game at Pennar. They are the kind of games you need to get through to be champions.

Again Leon Luby and Camron Thomas breated ample threat going forward and Hakin will again want nothing less than another win tomorrow against a Narberth side who have not played in the league since February 1st.

Ring rust is inevitable and it will take a massive effort  from The Bluebirds to halt the home side at The Obs.

Merlins Bridge 2-2 Clarbeston Road

Bridge now have a big task to bounce back from last night.

They were already missing Will Haworth and Joe Leahy to injury and now my assumption is Chris Ormond and Matthew D'Ivry will be suspended too. Add to that the deflation of the Senior Cup semi final defeat and Clarby will sense a chance to pounce here.

They will need to improve immeasurably from their 9-0 hiding at Monkton last time out and as so often with Clarby, who is available will be key.

But if at full strength they should have a chance to take something here.

St Clears 1-7 Monkton Swifts

Like Carew, Monkton had an unexpected night off on Tuesday

Ben Steele's rampant form continued last week in that 13-1 win against Saundersfoot but goals are coming from other players too, and it's a big ask for the struggling Saints to handle them going forward.

How the home side perfroms depends on who they have available but it's difficult to see them stopping the league leaders here.
