WRU National Plate Round 1: Haverfordwest Ladies 15-24 Cobra Ladies

Cari won the battle of the Prysor sisters with her Cobra side edging Awen’s Haverfordwest in the first round of the WRU plate.

The north Walian side went two tries ahead in the first half, taking advantage of the extra player with Haverfordwest only able to field 14, going down to 13 with blood injuries.

But to their credit the Blues were dominant in the scrum all afternoon, with the welcome addition of Wales prop Sarah Lawrence at tighthead.

They enjoyed a good share of territory and possession before unleashing flying centre Anna Ridge to bring the half-time score to 10-5.

Cobra went on to score two more converted tries before Haverfordwest finished strongly, with scores coming from player of the match Awen Prysor and captain Ali Hopson-Griffiths.

Delyth Foster, usually packing down with the forwards, shone as a stand-in fly-half, while Army wing Amber Starr-Palmer had another solid game in blue.

New recruits Christine Selby (wing) and second row Cerys Phillips also looked fine prospects for the new season.

Haverfordwest now drop into the WRU National Bowl competition and have another home game on Sunday (March 8).
