Pembrokeshire Football League fixtures for Saturday, March 14 (2pm unless stated):

Division 1:

Clarbeston Road 4-1 St Clears

Clarby's good form has been checked by a hiding from Monkton and a 3-1 defeat to a depleted Merlins Bridge.

But they will fancy this against a St Clears team yet to win this season and who will be playing for the first time in three weeks.

The visitors may be strengethed by Whitland RFC not playing so the likes of Johnny Thomas and Nico Setaro could be involved, but with Matthew Ellis and co having home advantage I'd expect them to bounce back here.

Regardless, the Saints have at least had success via their club badge this week, and at last time of checking they were into the last 16 of the 'WORLD CUP OF NON LEAGUE CLUB CRESTS', set up by the @NonRambler Twitter account.

Every cloud and all that.

Goodwick United 3-1 Merlins Bridge

That was an impressive 48 hours from Goodwick last week. They were better in that Senior Cup semi final against Bridge than 3-2 suggested, and to then back that up to beat Giants Grave was no mean feat.

To their credit, The Wizards themselves did well to pick themselves up and beat Clarby but in reality, lose here and they are out the title race.

On the Meadow they failed to get to grips with the likes of Matty Delaney, Steff Williams and Jordan Griffiths and will need to shore up this time around, although by my maths skipper Chris Ormond will still be suspended.

They need to create more than last Thursday and a lot could depend if Will Haworth is back available.

This pair have had three games this season and all have ended 3-2. So I won't delve too far from that.

Monkton Swifts 2-3 Hakin United

It's another huge one at Monkton Lane, and it's Hakin who kick off back top of the league.

That was courtesy of a 9-0 win over Narberth but while The Vikings will always score goals, manager Scott Davies would also have liked the clean sheet and the fact in Jake Merry, Camron Thomas, Jay Power, Garin Gardner, and Leon Luby, five defenders in his squad are under 20.

Monkton have had a frustrating time with their Senior Cup semi final and then their league match at St Clears called off, but have to be right on it here.

They too carry a lot of threat with Ben Steele in great form and Dylan Davies also scoring, and like Hakin, goals are also coming from their midfield.

Hakin won the reverse fixture 6-1 in December and on that basis, probably start favourites. But I don't see it being anywhere near as one sided this time.

Narberth 1-2 Fishguard Sports

Those dramatic late goals from Danny Morgan and Matt Harries gave Fishguard a 2-1 win over Pennar and after so much inactivity of late, Brian Kinsella wouldn't have cared about how they got three points.

Narberth meanwhile, didn't put up much resistance at Hakin although it wasn't the best fixture to be shaking off ring rust.

I expect the Bluebirds will up the ante from last week but with a top half finish now a real possibility, can see Fishguard sneaking three points.

Pennar Robins 1-4 Carew

That was a sickener for Pennar last week. To come so close to a much needed three points only to end up losing was a bitter blow.

Carew's winning form continued as Fraser Finlay again impressed with a hat trick at Saundersfoot, but with their re-arranged Senior Cup semi final coming up this is tricky. You want momentum, but you also don't want boys getting injured.

Regardless, The Rooks remain unbeaten in 2020 and the form book suggests they'll remain that way this weekend.

Saundersfoot Sports 2-4 Neyland

Saundersfoot may eye a chance to catch Neyland off guard here.

They fared far better against Carew than many (including me) thought they would, and compared to some results this season 6-2 was respectable.

Rhys Bates and Adam Davidson both scored from them and they now play a Neyland side who suffered a draining defeat in the West Wales Cup against Trostre. To come so close to a first semi final having gone through 120 minutes won't be easy to bounce back from.

But Neyland have the greater firepower so providing there is no hangover, I still think they will take three points. But the home side are running out of games to get that elusive win so at the very least, should battle hard.
