Fortunes have fluctuated in the last 20 years for Johnston.

From reaching the top flight, to that incredible double cup winning season, to going back down to Division 2. As it stands, The Tigers now face a nervy wait to see if they go into Divison 3 next season having finished in the bottom two because of points per game average.

And Glenn Murray has been there throughout the highs and lows. In fact, aged 60, he even scored for The Tigers in a league game at Solva last season.

Despite that, he's modestly left himself out of the 14, but is better placed than most to name the club's team of the century.

GOALKEEPER - MARTIN LANGDON

An easy choice since the year 2000 and he played a huge role in that Senior and West Wales Cup winning season. Before then, Steve James was the best keeper the club had in the 80s and 90s and he actually coached Martin for a while when he joined us. He really helped him.

RIGHT BACK - ANDREW JOHN

'Kanga' was very versatile and you knew what you were getting with him. Fit as a fiddle and scored the odd important goal from full back as well. In fact, scored a cracker in the Senior Cup final when we beat West Dragons.

CENTRE BACK - CHRIS ORMOND

What can you say about Chris? I can’t think of a better centre back in Pembrokeshire over the last 20 years. Accomplished footballer and so committed - wears his heart on his sleeve. Captained us during the double cup season.

CENTRE BACK - PAUL DAVIES

'Davsy' what at his best for us in the  early 2000s and was still playing a couple of years ago. Old fashioned, rugged, and took no prisoners in defence. Played the game simply but effectively - he'd make his tackles, win the ball, and pass it on.

LEFT BACK - STEVE MILLS JNR

He’s the best left back I’ve seen in local football. In fact, he could play anywhere as we all famously saw in that West Wales Cup final against Penlan Club. Started the game in defence and switched to striker to score the equaliser and then the winner.

RIGHT MIDFIELD - KRISTIAN GRIFFITHS

One of the best young footballers I've ever seen and injury cost him playing at a higher level. He had so much quality on the ball and always seemed to have so much time.

CENTRE MIDFIELD - LUKE HAYWARD

Like Kristian, such a good footballer and a good football brain too. The sort of player who rarely misses a pass but also has the nasty streak which you need for the battle in central midfield too. He’s an automatic choice here for sure.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD - SCOTT MURRAY

Formed a great partnership with Luke - who would tell you he was far more effective with Scott alongside him. But also a very skilful player in his own right and has had some big moments in a Johnston shirt.

LEFT MIDFIELD - JOEY GEORGE

Been great for us these past few seasons. So skilful and I would hate to mark him. He's a good thinker, has quick feet, and scores goals. James Skudder also comes very close here - really improved during his time at Johnston and became a big player for us.

CENTRE FORWARD - JOE JOHN

Simply put, he can score goals. Whatever level he’s played at he's found the net regularly and at one point I'm sure he got 30 plus goals for us four seasons on the trot. You won't find many players with a record like that at a club.

CENTRE FORWARD - ADAM HAWKINS

A centre forward but covers so much ground with his work rate. Unselfish and puts goals on a plate for people - and tracks back and helps defensively too. But even though he creates so much for others he still regularly scores 20 plus a season himself and is now such a key player for Merlins Bridge.

SUBSTITUTES:

BEN PHILLIPS

Unlucky not to be in the team. A very reliable centre half, knew his strengths and did what he did so well. Always highly respected by teammates.

SION PRICE

Classy centre back. Unfortunately getting him to play regularly wasn't easy but a lot of quality reads the game so well. Often didn't have to make tackles because he would be in the right position to cut out a pass beforehand.

MARK JONES

A great left foot and strong, powerful, quick, and hard to get off the ball. Everything you want from a naturally left sided player.

MANAGER - RUSSELL MURRAY

I think most Johnston players would agree Russell is the best manager they’ve played under at the club. Obviously took the team up into Division 1 and then to that double winning season.

ASSISTANT MANAGER - STEVE HAYWARD

Special mention to Steve Mills as well who helped Russell when he first started before Steve Hayward came in. He and Russell then had a great three or four years working together and really built a side.
