Alec Colley Cup Round 1: Saundersfoot 2nds (99-2) beat Burton 2nds (95-9)
It was the experience of Saundersfoot that sent their second team into the second round of the Alec Colley Cup as they eased home against their counterparts from Burton.
Chasing a Burton tally of 95-9 their top scorer was Steve Cook (41 not out), ably assisted by Paul Mansbridge (21) and Gareth Edwards (13) as Johnny Scale (1-22) and A John (1-27) were the only Burton wicket takers.
Earlier in the match, Welsh over 50s player Paul Webb led the Burton batting with 26, followed by Scale (23) and Ross Edwards (16 not out) – but Kevin Sykes showed what an asset he is to The Seasiders’ bowling attack with an excellent 4-11 haul alongside Nav and Aram Kawale, with respective figures of 3-27 and 1-9.
Saundersfoot will now entertain Lawrenny in the second round on Saturday.
