The 2020 Pembrokeshire Ladies’ Cup final will be a repeat of the 2019 affair after Burton and Cresselly both made it through their semi finals last night.

The sides will now meet in Kilgetty on Sunday, August 23rd.

Pembrokeshire Ladies’ Cup semi final: Burton (115-6) beat Hook (65-6) by 50 runs

Burton’s solid batting display was enough to overcome Hook as a vital knock of 33 not out from Rebecca Barton laid the platform for an eventual 50 run win.

Hook’s reply was carried by skipper Sam Rossiter, who made a valiant 36, but after losing early wickets the visitors never looked likely to reach their target.

It was Rossiter who won the toss and opted to field and the decision looked a good one after Kath Adams and Kacey Arran both got early wickets, to remove openers Finola Scale (1) and Rhiannon Morgan (5) respectively.

But from 8-2 Burton rallied, and No 3 Llawella Scale made 20 (one four) while there was a steady 15 from Lilly Thomas, but it was then Barton and Ffion Ashman who added real impetus.

They both hit a boundary each and ran well between the wickets in a stand of 30 before the latter fell for 20, but Barton went on to finish 33 not out and help push Burton past three figures to a final score of 115-6.

For Hook, Adams finished with 1-14, Arran 1-5, Maisy Davies 1-21 and Hayley Thomas 3-29.

And in their reply, the visitors were unable to get up with the rate and despite 11 from opener Katy Farr, it was only Rossiter who ever got going with three boundaries before being crucially run out by Ashman.

The Burton bowling was also efficient and Ashman (2-8) and Thomas (2-10) shared wickets alongside another run out, and there was also a tidy spell from Olivia James who took 0-7, including a maiden, in her four over spell.

Scorers: Joy James and Diane Morris.

Umpires: Brian Griffiths and Nigel Badham.

Cresselly (133-1) beat Lawrenny (22 all out) by 112 runs

The other semi final was a far more on sided affair as the batting of Lucy Johnson set Cresselly up for a big win over Lawrenny.

The hosts were asked to bat but after fellow opener Meg Arthur (2) was bowled by Cerys Ratcliffe early on, Johnson hit 76 not out as she shared an unbroken stand of 125 with Eleri Williams.

Her knock included seven fours while Williams was unbeaten on 42 (three fours), and the total was always likely to prove too much for an inexperienced Lawrenny side.

And so it proved as they fell to 22 all out, but No 3 Chloe Lewis batted well for her 14 (two fours) before Johnson again featured with a smart catch off the bowling of Chelsea Morris.

Elaine Lewis (3) and Nell Allen (2) were the only other visiting players off the mark though, alongside three extras, as Morris claimed 3-2 in four overs and there were further good stints from skipper Lauren Arthur (3-1), Teagan Cartwright (1-5), and Johnson who completed a great all round display with 3-4.

Umpires: Damian Arthur and Rob Lewis.

Scorers: Chrissie Toy and James Buckle.
