It’s been a strange summer for everyone, let alone those involved in in local cricket.

But by in large, society has been united by one concept, gratitude to the NHS amidst the chaos caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.

And this Saturday at Imble Lane in Pembroke Dock, a special game will take place to say thankyou to all those within our healthcare system who have worked tirelessly these past few months.

The ‘Thankyou NHS’ match has been the idea of Nick Daley, a long standing player down at The Dock, and he has selected a tasty squad to take on a combined side from Pembroke, Lamphey and Stackpole.

The event has already received a large number of donations and match sponsors, as well as raffle prizes, with all funds raised going to the NHS itself.

“It’s just something to say thankyou and give something back to the NHS,” explained Daley.

“Everyone I spoke to was keen on the idea and to be fair the response of the community has been brilliant. A lot of individuals and companies have stepped up to help out.”

The game will start at 1pm and will be played over two innings of 20 overs per side – ironically the same format as the Alan Brown Cup final which The Dock, Stackpole, and Lamphey have all featured in over the past two seasons.

And tonight, the squad lists for both teams have been confirmed:

The Daley select squad: Nick Daley (capt), Scott Griffiths (wk), Ryan Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Pete Kingdom, Jake Davies, Jake Griffiths, John Davies, Neil Hallet, Billy Wood, Rob Hearn, Luke Murray, David Dunfee, Jamie White.

Pembroke/Stackpole/Lamphey squad: Jonathan Rogers (capt), Phil Hay, Andrew Hay, Jack Harris, Euan McDonald, George Smith, John Williams, Josh Davies, Andrew Skeels, Haydn Cole, Peter McGilloway, Anton John, Rob Mathias.
