Trefloyne Golf Club have traditionally marked the end of summer with their annual Beyon Family Day – and this year they had glorious sunshine to go with it.

Members gathered for the Texas Scramble event, that Kim, Joan, and family run every year.

With the course in superb condition, the hooter signaled a shotgun start, with club captain John Voysey, senior captain Alun Williams and ladies’ captain Jane Meyrick helping ensure the day ran smoothly – with John devising the handicap rules for the teams of three or four.

Only nine points separated the teams finishing first and last, with Pat Forrest, Derek Jones, and Simon and Finnan Arthur running out overall winners.

Roger Barton, John Payne, Nigel and Clive Williams were runners up, and Mike and Pauline Allen, Pat Casement and Trevor Lewis third.

Tom and Jamie Wright, with Aaron Roberts, were fourth and Gareth Roberts, Dan Edwards, Randall Day and Jack Lawrence fifth.

All players were then able to enjoy a two course meal back at the club to round off a successful day.

James makes an immediate impact

Furthermore, new professional James Foster has made an instant impression with his ‘Challenge the Pro’ nearest the pin event on the short par 3 12th.

From the challenge, some players did win vouchers or credit for a lesson, but James also raised a good amount for charity.

The other prizes saw Robin Lloyd drive nearest the line on the 10th, Finnan Arthur won nearest the pin in two shots on the 11th, and John Voysey was nearest the pin on the 16th.

The day was supported by greenkeeper, Matt Whittock while Ryan Townsend not only managed the pro shop but also helped run the day.
