Shaun Dyson was crowned the 2020 Men’s Club Champion at Milford Haven Golf Club on the weekend.

His combined gross score of 139 over two rounds proved enough to his to take the tournament from Liam Eva by four shots.

Saturday and Sunday saw the men’s section play the annual Championships, sponsored by Leigh Evans of the Harbourmaster, over a 36 hole gross format. The course had been set up to its highest standard and the pin and flag placements were positioned to both tempt and challenge the 69 players who entered.

On the first day of the Championship Shaun led the field by three shots (gross 69) from Andrew Arnold (gross 72), with Liam (gross 74) third. The nett competition saw Rob Allen in front with 67, followed by Shaun and Andrew Arnold (both 68).

The second day of the Championships saw the course set up in its most challenging way.

By the 12th hole Liam had made up his five shot deficit on Shaun after shooting a dramatic hole in one, but Shaun recovered and led by one going into the 16th.

And he held his nerve and birdied two of the last three holes to go level par and become the 2020 Milford Haven Golf Club Men’s Champion.

The lowest gross of the day was Liam with his 69, whilst Niall Day and Shaun both shot 70. The nett winner was Niall (nett 66) followed by Ian Randell and Lyndon Brown (both net 66), who were beaten on countback.

The combined results for gross saw Shaun in front (139), Liam (143) second and Andrew (145) third. And for the combined nett Rob took first (nett 134) from Andrew (137) and Shaun (also 137).

There were 36 two’s recorded over the 36 holes and competition scratch score was 70 for both days.
