HAVERFORDWEST County started the second phase of their Cymru Premier campaign with a 2-1 defeat as a last minute winner from Charley Edge snatched a dramatic 2-1 win for basement battlers Cefn Druids at the Rock.

Niall Flint had given the north Walians an early lead, but midway through the second half Haverfordwest County substitute Danny Williams scrambled in an equaliser - only for Edge to win it with his well-taken late strike.

Wayne Jones' men had made a bright start, with former Wales international Jazz Richards providing a testing cross from the right in the early stages, but there was no Bluebirds' player able to poke the ball home.

Ben Fawcett headed straight at the goalkeeper, after Kurtis Rees then clipped the ball into the box - but it was Druids who took the lead after 10 minutes when Naim Arsan crossed for Niall Flint to power the opening goal.

Despite having plenty of possession, chances were at a premium for the Bluebirds until just before the half time whistle, when Kieran Lewis went close to levelling by heading a Corey Shephard cross onto the post.

Haverfordwest came out fighting in the second half, and Shephard fired a half volley over then bar, before Fawcett flicked a ball on to Kieran Lewis, who struck from just inside the area, but it was saved by the keeper.

Fawcett was involved again as Shephard flicked a ball into his path, but he fired wide a few yards from goal, before the Bluebirds' pressure finally resulted in a equalising goal in the 76th minute.

Alaric Jones clipped the ball into the box, a scramble ensued, and the ball fell to Danny Williams who fired home.

The Bluebirds piled on the pressure as Corey Shephard fired a volley inches over the bar - but it was the Druids who won it right at the end as Charley Edge raced through one-on-one to coolly curl home to secure the points.

After back-to-back defeats, Wayne Jones, who admitted is "a harsh lesson," was looking for his side to bounce back at home to Aberystwyth in midweek, before travelling to face Newtown at Latham Park on Saturday.
