THERE is a strong focus on live entertainment at Theatr Gwaun this October.

This Saturday at 8pm, the ever popular Haverfordwest Operatic Society present Arthur Sullivan’s comic opera, The Zoo.

It features some of Sullivan’s most attractive music, a farcical love story, the obligatory happy ending, and will be performed with customary skill by these experienced local heroes.

Theatr Gwaun welcomes back the Clarbeston Road Players on Friday, October 11. Always warmly received, the Players will be showcasing two very funny plays by Derek Webb, CCTV and Losing It.

By utter contrast, Theatre versus Oppression makes its Fishguard debut on Saturday, October 19. This innovative international company uses forum theatre and other participatory techniques to inspire and challenge audiences, and its current performance is an exploration of human trafficking.

On Saturday, October 26, Shakespeare’s rollicking comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor comes to Theatr Gwaun in the innovative hands of Fluellan Theatre. One of the great Shakespearian characters, John Falstaff, will of course be given suitably larger-than-life treatment.

And to round off the month, on Sunday October, 27, Theatr Gwaun is delighted to welcome Declan Sinnott. With a career spanning more than 40 years, he has played guitar and produced music for Irish folk luminaries

such as Christy Moore, Mary Black, Sinead Lohan and John Spillane to name but a few. He was a founding member of Horslips and Moving Hearts - two of the most influential trad /electric bands in Ireland. Since the year 2000 Declan has been guitarist and producer to Christy Moore, who was recently named as Ireland's greatest living musician in RTÉ's People of the Year Awards.
