Second season of outdoor films on way with Sunset Cinema

Last year's outdoor screenings were a huge success and this time

The season will open on Tuesday, August 11 with a screening of Back to the Future at Milford Haven Marina.

On August 13 there will be a chance to catch Ghostbusters in the grounds of Picton Castle near The Rhos, Haverfordwest, a venue that comprises 40 acres of some of the most impressive woodland gardens in west Wales.

Carew Castle will host an afternoon screening of Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie on August 14, before box office hit Robin Hood Prince of Thieves takes over the screen that evening.

Noble Court Holiday Park at Narberth will host a screening of classic musical Grease on August 18, while Moulin Rouge will be screened at Stackpole Walled Gardens, near Pembroke on August 19.

Rom-com Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts can be seen at the gardens the next day.

Hilton Court, near Haverfordwest, will host The Blues Brothers on August 21 before Dracula rounds off the season at Pembroke Castle on August 22.

Peter Doran, of the Torch, said: "I don’t think any of us anticipated the success of last year’s Sunset Cinema but it was truly amazing.

"If anyone experiences a success the best way forward is to build on it and that’s what we hope to do this year – seven superb venues, nine classic film titles. Outdoor cinema is the new craze in the cinema industry and The Torch are leading the way within Wales. We are very grateful to Film Hub Cymru and the British Film Institute for their support.”

The season runs from August 11 to 22 with gates opening for most films at 7pm with the film starting as soon as the sun has gone down (approximately 9.30pm, except Maleficent which is an afternoon screening).

Tickets are £6.50 in advance (£5 concessions and £20 for a family ticket) and £8 on the day (£6.50 concessions and £25 for a family ticket).
