THE newly refurbished Tiers Cross Community Hall will have brand new chairs, tables and interior fittings thanks to a lottery grant.

Awards for All, part of the Big Lottery Fund, has provided £4,650 to purchase the new equipment.

The former chapel schoolroom, which has been in the community since 1814, has been transformed into a modern community hall room with the help of members of the chapel and a Community Forumwhich has been established.

Tiers Cross YFC and Sarah’s Boot Camp are among those groups who hire out the hall and it is now hoped more groups will use the improved facility.

Forum Treasurer Adam Thorne said: “It has taken the chapel many years to secure funding and renovate the hall and we are grateful for their efforts. Tiers Cross now has a modern community facility that can be enjoyed by all.”

Tiers Cross Minister, Rev Martin Spain, said chapel members are looking forward to a new chapter in the life of the chapel in Tiers Cross.

Rev Spain said: “We have raised over £50,000 to carry out the renovation work and this grant will help us to furnish the hall to a good standard.

We are grateful for this award and hope the community enjoys the hall for years to come.”
