An aerial display, parachute jump and car display will be the order of the day as preparations gather pace for the Milford Haven Carnival on July 6th.

The suggested theme for this year's carnival is the 50th anniversary of James Bond films, which have now totalled 23 over the last 50 years.

The procession, which will set off from Waterloo Square at 1pm, will conclude at its traditional arena at the Milford Haven Athletic FC grounds in Pill field, Pill Lane, after parading through Charles Street, Hamilton Terrace and The Rath.

A convoy of 20 cars will lead the parade, demonstrating the types of vehicles that have appeared in James Bond films, including two Aston Martins, a Lotus Esprit, a Jaguar, and Rolls Royce.

Milford Haven Town Band, Samba Tawe, Samba Doc and Haverfordwest ATC bands will also join the procession. Every float, provided it consists of more than 15 participants, will be awarded £100, while one float will scoop the best float prize of £1,000.

An aerial display and parachute jump by the Tigers Parachute Display Team will be held in the main arena from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, while the Crazy Bears Stage Show will perform three shows.

Other entertainment will include face painting, magicians, fairground rides, local charity stalls, and hot food.

The carnival music event, with Chas Hodges and his band and Milford’s very own Pennysows, will be held on Saturday evening in a purpose-built marquee on Pill field.

Tickets are £10 and are available from Milford Haven Round Tablers.

Chairman Ralph Rees said: "The Round Table look forward to this year’s carnival once again being a fun-filled weekend for all the family, and with its long overdue return to Pill field, which will be an alcohol free zone, it should be a fantastic afternoon for all the family.

"The overall theme and the entertainment that has been confirmed will surely add an extra exciting and unique dimension."
