  • "It may come as a surprise to none, that in a report by The Director of Development to Cabinet 11 October 2004, Asset Management Arrangements were considered and endorsed.
Although not specifically approved as a formal delegation to officers by
Cabinet the report provided that The Operational Asset Management Plan includes the Designation of the Chief Executive and the Director of Development as " The Corporate property Officer" with delegated responsibility the effective management of property assets.
This shifting of responsibility does not absolve The Cabinet from the record of poor investment in the maintenance of our assets, which is now being used as an excuse to close our services.
Is this yet another example of corporate failure over several years, permitted by the IPG led Council?
As Council Leader Adams and the previous Leader said, they are more interested in outcomes than process.
Perhaps they would care to explain these outcomes."

Future of Pembrokeshire's mobile libraries uncertain

The future of Pembrokeshire's three mobile libraries is to be reviewed.

The county Cabinet, which meets on Monday, will discuss the future of the service which is projected to cost £101,000 next year.

A report to cabinet members said that the fleet "is old and prone to regular breakdown".

It adds that the service has a small number of regular users - defined as those who have used the service at least four times in a 12 month period- working out at around 1% of the Pembrokeshire population.

Analysis of those users suggests that the vast majority are in communities with high levels of car ownership.

Council officers recommended a review of the mobile library service and that a report setting out recommendations be brought back before Cabinet members.
