POLICE are looking for witnesses after a spate of burglaries targeted jewellery and cash in the New Road area of Haverfordwest.

Police are appealing to people in Haverfordwest to be alert and vigilant for any suspicious behaviour following the house burglaries around the New Road area.

Properties are being targeted during the dark winter evenings when occupants are away from their address, with jewellery and cash being taken.

“Each of the incidents have striking similarities. We believe that they are attributed to an individual or small group of individuals working together.

"We are conducting extensive enquiries to identify the person responsible” said Detective Inspector Richard Yelland.

“We are asking the local residents for their help in doing this. If you can be vigilant in your area, and report to us anything which you think is suspicious. It may be a person seen loitering somewhere, or a strange vehicle driving around your area. Please call us on 101 and report your concerns. You know your neighbourhoods and know when something is not right, so please get in touch.”

Dyfed-Powys Police has commenced a targeted operation in the area to offer extra security.
