STAFF at Debenhams in Haverfordwest formed a fundraising force on the weekend, as they launched an in-store campaign to raise money for Help for Heroes.

On Saturday (March 1), staff at the Haverfordwest store dressed in camouflage clothing and army gear to launch the appeal, which they hope will raise at least £75,000 nationally to support wounded servicemen and their families.

Throughout March, the style superstore will be selling a range of limited edition merchandise, with all profits being donated to the charity.

In its first fundraising weekend, the store raised £242, and there to congratulate them was Help for Heroes’ west Wales co-ordinator Dena Waterford.

She said it was great to have a big name like Debenhams join the list of stores helping raise money for the charity.

The former army nurse said that, in the last 18 months, more than £46,000 had been raised in west Wales, and she has high hopes that this total will continue to grow.

Bryn Parry, CEO and co-founder of Help for Heroes, said: “Help for Heroes is hugely grateful to Debenhams for the amazing support it is giving us.

“What really makes the contribution stand out is the range of support provided; from allowing us to run a national collection weekend at stores, to developing a range of clothing in partnership with H4H.

“Servicemen and women who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.”
