Drugs charge pensioner chooses Crown Court

First published in News

A PEMBROKE Dock pensioner facing two drugs related offences appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Eric Mann, 71, of Harbour Way, entered no plea to possessing a quantity of cannabis oil. He also declined to enter a plea to a charge of producing 12 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of between £5,970 and £9,680.

Magistrates accepted jurisdiction of the case, but Mann elected to stand trial at Swansea Crown Court. He was released on unconditional bail, and will appear before the Crown Court on August 1.

let me get this right - the man had cancer, grew cannabis, used it to treat and possibly cure his cancer - amid reports now from around the world including recently the University of East Anglia that confirm that it works - now police arrest him and put some fictitious value on the plants that they don't accuss him of selling - will take him to court and punish him - and all at taxpayers expense.

so what happened to Justice?

people may say the law is the law but that is wrong - there is no Justice in the law that punishes victimless and often ill people for possession or even cultivation of plants for their own use

What is wrong with this world where we make criminals of people who would rather use safer alternatives to deadly pharmaceuticals.

Look up the 63 year old man who has just cured his own cancer using cannabis oil.

This is going to cost tens of thousands of pounds to the taxpayer, for what?
If he did not intend to sell it then it did not really have any street value. He was saving himself from having to use the black market which probably funds real criminals, so was actually doing the law a favour.

What a great guy. Fighting for what's right and disobeying unjust laws. I do feel that the police are the criminals here. They have taken his medicine which he should still be taking. Anyone that cares to research will find when using cannabis oil as a medicine treating cancer need to keep taking a maintenance dose everyday. Eric is the victim here he isn't causing harm to anyone so why he is before the courts with two cases against him ? If you commit a crime there has to be a victim. NO Victim NO Crime. Police should be ashamed and they could use discretion after all it seems to me that they are starting to harass this guy as well as stealing from him. I wish Eric well and hope all the truth tellers come out to support him when his trial begins.
