VOLUNTEERS at a Pembrokeshire anti-poverty charity are looking good, thanks to a donation from Valero Pembroke Refinery.

Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship (PATCH) run three ‘Basic Banks’ across the county – in Milford Haven, Haverfordwest and Monkton – which provide food, clothes and other support to individuals and families affected by poverty.

Run by a dedicated group of frontline volunteers, the charity recently sought assistance to replace their distinctive black and white uniforms, as well as obtain cooking utensils such as pots and pans, to donate to their referred clients.

PATCH Coordinator Tracy Olin, said, “PATCH would not exist without the amazing commitment and enthusiasm of our volunteers, and being able to provide them with uniforms helps in a number of ways.

“Firstly, it makes it easier for our clients to identify our volunteers and know who to approach when in need of assistance.

“Secondly, it gives our volunteers a much needed boost now they have new, fresh uniforms to wear. We are incredibly grateful to Valero for this very kind donation.”

Valero Public Affairs Manager Stephen Thornton, said, “PATCH is an incredibly important local charity, and one that brings a great deal of relief and support to people in great need across our county. PATCH’s volunteers are all heroes, and Valero are once again delighted to be able to help PATCH carry out their activities here in Pembrokeshire.”
