FINLAND'S Juha Kankkunen boosted his chances of winning a fourth world

title when he stormed to victory in his Toyota in the 1000 Lakes Rally

in Finland yesterday.

Kankkunen started with only a one-point lead in this year's

championship but is now 20 points ahead of Didier Auriol of France.

* DAVID Robertson won both rounds of the Guyson Scottish sprint

championship at Kames this weekend, beating Kevin Tawse by less than two

seconds on each day. With one round remaining, Olly Ross has all but

* NIGEL Mansell was sixth in the Vancouver IndyCar race yesterday, but

increased his lead in the championship standings because nearest rival,

Emerson Fittipaldi of Brazil, was seventh.

Al Unser Jr won the race, 11.2sec. ahead of fellow American Bobby

Rahal.
