THE founder member and president of Hakin Point (Milford Haven) RNLI Branch was awarded the RNLI Gold Badge by HRH Duke of Kent at the RNLI's Annual Presentation of Awards, at the Barbican Centre, London, on Thursday, June 21.

The Gold Badge, one of the highest accolades presented by the RNLI, was given to Dorothy Beckett, in recognition of her unfailing support and commitment to the branch.

Described as 'always willing to help', in 42 years she has taken part in a number of fundraising activities, including a recent sponsored walk at the age on 80 - showing her stamina and determination.

A fantastic representative of the RNLI, while she has been President she has attended numerous functions, and acted as liaison officer in the town, linking the branch to many institutions, clubs and churches.
