THE Milford Mercury is getting a makeover.

The newspaper at the heart of Milford Haven will be bigger and better than ever before when it hits the streets next week with a sleek new design and more pages of news, sport and features.

To celebrate the facelift, readers will be in with a chance of pocketing £100 each month in a free-to-enter competition.

The changes follow the appointment of a new editor with overall control of Newsquest’s west Wales group of newspapers – the Mercury, the Western Telegraph, the South Wales Guardian and the Tivyside Advertiser.

Steve Adams, originally from Solva, has taken on the role.

One of Steve’s first tasks has been a complete redesign of the Mercury, which will be relaunched with a bumper edition next week to coincide with St David’s Day.

“The Merc has a long history of bringing the people of Milford Haven and the surrounding area the news on their doorsteps,” said Steve.

“I want to see that continue – and improve.

“A town of the size, history and importance of Milford Haven deserves to have a dedicated newspaper.

“I am incredibly proud to have been given this opportunity to take the Merc forward – in print and online.

“I am determined to give the people of Milford a newspaper they can be proud to call their own.”

The new-look Mercury will be launched on Thursday, March 3.

Steve and Mercury reporter Jo Sayers will be in town to celebrate the relaunch at Milford News in Charles Street where free Peter’s Pies will be up for grabs and at Tesco.

So come and say hello – and tell us exactly what you want to see in your new-look Milford Mercury, the only newspaper putting Milford first.

The Mercury will continue to go on sale every Thursday at just 30p.
