MORE than £900 was raised in Llangwm last week for Save the Children’s humanitarian work in Syria and Yemen.

The funds were raised in a charity pop-up café at the village hall which was organised by a group of friends in the village and supported by live music from the Skylarks.

Save the Children says a staggering 21 million people in Yemen - around 82 per cent of the population - are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

The war in Yemen, which began in March 2015, has killed almost 7,000 people, injuring a further 35,000.

Homes have been destroyed, and the healthcare system has collapsed, meaning children and their families can't get the vital care they desperately need.

“Well done to all the organisers of the ‘pop up café’, they really did Llangwm proud again,” said local councillor Michael John.

“Marvellous event and great cakes.”

The pop-up café crew and the Skylarks are very grateful for the generous support of the local community and would also like to thank Janice at Little Red Fox Design, Llangwm Shop and Post Office, The Cookhouse, Vincent Davies and Wilko.
