A MILFORD Haven mum, who hit the headlines after sharing her experience of having a premature baby, will be hosting a picnic in the park for parents this weekend.

Amy Blockwell has been calling for more support for parents of premature and unwell babies.

Her son Jacob was born three months premature, and for many weeks it was touch and go that Jacob would survive.

It put tremendous pressure on Amy, who was 19 at the time, and she was diagnosed with post-natal depression.

As medical staff worked hard to keep Jacob alive, Amy struggled to be the mum she wanted to be. It was worse when she got home, even though she had strong support from her family.

Amy is now inviting any parents who are, or have been through a traumatic experience, to raise awareness of the importance of mental health support for parents.

Amy’s Picnic in the Park will take place on Saturday, July 8, at Scolton Manor, Haverfordwest from noon.

There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and a balloon launch. Bring a picnic.
