AN AUDIO newspaper that helps people with visual and physical impairments keep up-to-date on local news has received a £630 boost.

Following a very successful charity darts tournament held back in August, the Ladies Friendly Darts Team held a presentation at the Milford Haven Royal British Legion where they presented a cheque for £630.00 to Milford Haven Talking Mercury talking newspaper.

The teams who participated in the tournament were Football Club, Kimberley 1 and 2, British Legion 1, Manchester Club 2 and the Three Crowns.

Pat Farrar, chairman of the Milford Haven Talking Mercury, thanked the ladies for their very kind generosity, and those who took part and donated to the event.

She explained that the Talking Mercury is a totally self-funding charity that provides an audio version of the Mercury on a weekly basis via memory stick.

The service is free of charge, and is ideal for those who have a visual impairment, or struggle to read a conventional paper, helping them stay abreast of current matters and allowing them some important independence.

If you suffer from visual impairment or know someone who does and could benefit from receiving a copy of the Talking Mercury please call Sue on 01646 692440 or Liz on 01646 692506.
