THERE were cheers and tears at Milford Haven School on Thursday, as pupils received their GCSE results.

Whether staying on for sixth form, leaving for college or beginning work or an apprenticeship, youngsters were keen to find out their grades.

Headteacher Ceri-Ann Morris congratulated Year 11 pupils on their GCSE results, which she said reflected the efforts and commitment pupils have shown over the last two years.

She also paid tribute to parents and carers for their support and cooperation.

"We are pleased with a number of individual successes, in particular our top ten performers are Emma Nicholas, Leah Harries, Niamh Taylor, Isabella Cutolo, Dylan Roberts, Kaj Niewiarowski, Jack Rusby, Luke Walters, Charlotte Kilick and Carys Wild," she said.

"Several of these pupils also completed additional GCSEs on top of their chosen option subjects.

"Overall, the performance for 5A* to C grades at GCSE including English and Maths is down.

"However, strong performance has continued in the Skills Challenge Certificate in addition to the broader range of vocational subjects – 13 in total - which the school has offered pupils.

"Many of these courses will enable our pupils to follow the path of their choice, whether that be into the sixth form, college, apprenticeships or employment.

"The school is pleased to say that all pupils left school with qualifications which will help support them move onto their next step.

"We wish you all good luck in your future careers."
