FUNDRAISING volunteers at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre have been recognised for their tremendous efforts over the past year - a little later than planned.

The group, which has already raised several thousands of pounds for the Sunderland Trust, which runs the Heritage Centre, was awarded a Highly Commended by PAVS. But, due to an administrative hitch, it was not presented at the recent PAVS Awards ceremony.

This was rectified on Friday, August 24 when Caroline White of PAVS made a special visit to the Heritage Centre to meet the volunteer fundraisers and present them with the certificate.

“Our group was Highly Commended in their category,” said Centre Manager, Stuart Berry.

“This Heritage Centre would not be able to function without our volunteers, and all the staff and trustees are eternally grateful for the contribution of our fundraising team.

"This Trust would not be in as good a position it is now without all of their hard work and dedication over the last year and before.”

The team arranged a fundraising auction in Pater Hall earlier this year, bringing almost £2,000 in for the Trust, and now have their sights on a fundraising choir concert featuring Neyland Ladies Choir and Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir on November 9, to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First world war.

Tickets are now on sale at £10.00 and £8.00 for concessions. It will take place at Pennar Community Church, Pembroke Dock.
