MONKTON Swifts' dreams of winning their fifth consecutive league title were shattered, suffering defeat at home against Solva.

This may have been a surprise result, but it was one that was always on the cards.

Last week the former champions lost at home to Goodwick, and this week the dose was repeated as in-form Solva deservedly beat them to move up to fifth in the table.

The visitors took the lead on eight minutes as Charlie Sime finishing clinically past Swifts' keeper Gareth Kenniford.

Two minutes later and the home team equalised when Arran Goldsmith rifled his shot into the roof of Chris Davies' net.

Shortly after the break and Luke Jones banged in Solva's second goal of the match.

David Price, just signed from St Davids, marked his debut with a well-taken third goal and putting the final nail in Monkton's coffin.

Delighted Solva manager Peter Cole said: "I felt confident we could get a result today, and all my players played fantastic."

While Monkton's Steve Maytum sportingly said: "Fair play to them, they took their chances and deserved their win."
