The charity football match between police and the Mount Community Association Nomads has been hailed a brilliant success.

The contest took place on Sunday at Marble Hall.

Money raised in aid of the Paul Sartori Foundation is still being collected, and Barclays bank has offered to match whatever is raised.

The Nomads took the lead through Ki Jones but on-loan Shaun Mathias equalised just before half time.

In the second half, Shaun scored a second, closely followed by a storming goal from rampaging left back Idwal David.

The MCA clawed their way back into the game and levelled the game with two quick goals from Anthony Brown who found the net twice.

In the dying minutes the police's second loan striker Adam Beavis coolly slotted under the keeper to ensure a 4-3 victory for the Dyfed-Powys constabulary.

After the match a buffet and presentation of medals by Councillor Martin Davies was held.

The players' man of the match for the Nomads was Richard Pritchard and for the police, Lisa Kennedy.

Nomads chairman Kathy Gray said: "It was a brilliant day."

A police spokesman said: "Thanks to Kathy Gray and the staff at the Acorn Centre for organising the event and all who came to lend their support."

The Mount community association now plans to continue fundraising for the foundation with a quiz night, although no date has yet been set.
