A 25-YEAR-OLD woman received a seven-and-a-half pound Mothers' Day surprise on Sunday.

Amanda Johansson, of 16a St Peters Road, Johnston, gave birth to Bethan just before 10am at Withybush Hospital with dad Jon McKnight, a 28-year-old kitchen fitter, by her bedside.

She said: "Bethan was a lovely Mothers' Day surprise and my mum said she was the best Mothers' Day present she had ever had.

"Bethan's my first baby and I feel really proud of her."

Amanda, who had been working at La Brasserie restaurant, Pembroke Dock, said she thought she may have gone into labour on Saturday afternoon but wasn't sure so she had a shower, painted her toes and made up the cot.

She went into labour at around 1am Sunday morning.

Asked if Bethan would be the first of many offspring Amanada said: "We'll have to see, she's enough to cope with at the moment."

Three other babies were born at Withybush hospital on Mothers' Day.
