An exciting new initiative could see the vacant former Woolworths site in Milford Haven transformed into a festive market this winter.

Businesses on Charles Street are working together to utilise the retail space left vacant by Woolworths in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

At a meeting on Monday evening, local businesses pledged their full support for a Christmas market in the store.

“We have already been in touch with the agents who are keen to let it to us for this exciting initiative.

“We are now very keen to hear from local food and craft producers or anyone who may be interested in trading, so we can offer a ‘pick and mix’ Christmas shopping experience,” said Viv Phillips, chairman of Milford Haven Business Circle.

“We are also keen to hear from organisations which can offer other attractions, with ideas such as a bouncy castle, face painting, exhibitions and local choirs being suggested,” she added.

“Milford is well known for its popular Christmas Cracker event and a Christmas market will add to the festivities,” said retailer Helen Lord.

Milford Haven mayor councillor Tony Eden said he was delighted to hear of the initiative.

“The idea is fantastic. I hope the retailers get the support they need and who knows what it could lead to,” he said.
