Hakin United ... 2

Goodwick United 1

While fellow finalists Narberth were on the end of a seven goal thrashing at St Ishmaels, Hakin warmed up for the Senior Cup Final with another impressive win.

Steve Mathias was the difference between the sides, scoring a goal in each half to earn the Vikings a victory over Goodwick United and they look like going into the final on April 22nd as slight favourites.

The home side got off to a dream start at the Obs on Saturday, opening the scoring after just five minutes.

Jonathan Bennett was quick out of the blocks and created the goal with a great cross.

It fell to Mathias who steadied himself before cracking a powerful drive from the edge of the area, giving Carl Woodhouse no chance in the Goodwick goal.

It was a deserved lead for the much improved Vikings but they failed to capitalise on it and Goodwick came back into the game.

But it was Hakin who got the vital second goal on 70 minutes which settled the game.

And it was another stunning effort from Mathias, who found the net once again with a great drive from the 18 yard box.

Bernie Armstrong's Goodwick boys never gave up and they pulled a goal back through James Dean but by that time the game was up.
