Dear editor, IT IS with disgust I learn of the criminal conviction of the deputy leader of the Labour party in Pembrokeshire, Cllr Kate Becton.

If this is the same councillor who was earlier this year concerned about the safety of children in Pembrokeshire, she should resign her public position immediately. There is nothing more dangerous for children on our streets than drivers who drink and drive especially when the amounts are excessive.

Here is another example of elected politicians telling the world to do as I say and not as I do, what hypocracy.

I have lived in Pembrokeshire for 20 years and never can I recall an elected member being allowed to remain in public office under such circumstances. To say that life for the individual was stressful is no excuse to become a drink driver.

With Christmas around the corner, Cllr Becton should demonstrate leadership by resigning her position and by doing so, convey a clear message to those who will risk the lives of others by drinking and driving.
