IN REFERENCE to the recent letter from Delyth Evans (Parliamentary candidate for south Pembrokeshire) re: the growth of food banks, I entirely agree with her. I also agree the the comments by the Archbishop of Westminster over the criticism of the government’s policy on derailing benefits to the more vulnerable within our society.
People are having to pay more bills with dwindling incomes and that to me is morally wrong. I only wish Christians leaders would take a strong stand more to protect those on the fringe of life who need help.
I don’t mean scroungers who misuse the system, I’m all in favour of legislation to safeguard tax payers’ money from fraudsters, but also please don’t undermine people who are mentally disabled.
It’s not a stigma, it’s a genuine illness.
