THE fact that Narberth Swimming Pool has been saved from closure is a great example of triumph over adversity, and proof that communities can still achieve great things by refusing to take no for an answer. Sue Rees and everyone involved deserve considerable credit.
Two things struck me. The first was how determined and resolute local residents were in believing that they could pull this off, the second how convinced one or two people were that they couldn’t!
Whilst there is still some distance to go, I hope this provides inspiration to everyone who battles with “the system” from time to time. It was only due to the determination of the organisers that the council provided a welcome extension to the original deadline, which enabled success to be achieved.
