I’D like to say a huge thank you to any of your readers who were among the 11,414 Pembrokeshire people who put their faith in me at the ballot box on Thursday.

It was a real pleasure to speak to the 20,000 Pembrokeshire people we did over the course of the last 18 months. I’m really proud of the local campaign we ran based around the Plan for Pembrokeshire.

Unfortunately, on a national level people chose to stick with the conservatives and it wasn’t to be, but that’s democracy.

Irrespective of the result, I will be continuing to fight side by side with the people of Pembrokeshire for a better future for our county. To those that did not vote for me, I’m listening and I will be reflecting on what you’ve had to say in the last few weeks to see how I can best represent those views on the council, as leader of the Labour Group.

I was in touch with Steve Moore, Chief Executive of Hywel Dda Health Board on Friday and priority one for me now is to continuing working with him and my clinical advisory group on the return of the overnight paediatric service to Withybush.

I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.
