An acclaimed organist is returning to St Andrew’s Church, Narberth, for a recital next month.

Dr Catherine Burrell of Newport, Pembrokeshire, who is originally from New York, followed a career in church music and organ performance before qualifying as a doctor.

She is currently an out-of-hours general practitioner and the county associate medical director for the Hywel Dda UHB, but continues to enjoy her music as a hobby and gives organ and harp recitals in the UK and USA.

She is also musical director of the All-Wales Cardiologists’ Male Voice Choir and conducts medical colleagues in The Aesculapius Singers who have raised more thanover £23,500 for health-related charities.

The recital at St Andrew’s Church features works by composers including Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Vierne and Walton and takes place at 7pm on Friday, October 2. Tickets (including an interval buffet) are available from church members, and on the door.
