Among the local fundraisers were Mathew Lamb, a senior finance officer with Pembrokeshire County Council. He walked 15 miles to his work in Haverfordwest on Friday morning, raising £400 for Children in Need.

Fishguard and District Round Table held their annual bridge toll collection in Lower Town, starting at 7.30am and continuing well into the night.

Generous passers-by contributed to a grand total of £3,120.

“We’ve been extremely lucky with the weather,” said the group’s chairman Andrew Evans.

“We’ve been able to raise a brilliant amount this year and yet again the people of Fishguard and the surrounding area have shown just how generous and supporting they are. We’d also like to thank Richard at the Ship Inn for his hospitality and letting us base our count there.”

It was also a record-breaking year for Milford Haven School sixth form, which raised an incredible £7,025.68.

They held a week of fundraising activities, which started with the school’s famous dip at Broad Haven.

Headteacher Rod Francis said: “Well done to all the students for their outstanding efforts.

“They always make a big effort for Children in Need and I’m really pleased they have been so successful.”
