TWO top Pembrokeshire chefs have chosen the teenager who will represent the county in the next stage of a UK-wide competition.

Will Holland from Coast, Saundersfoot and Emyr Evans from the Wolfscastle Country Hotel had the difficult task of judging the area final of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year.

This was held at Pembrokeshire College, where competitors had to cook and present a three-course meal for two, using a menu of their choice and on a fixed budget, within two hours.

The winner, for the second year in succession, was Eleri Bunn of Ysgol y Preseli, with Casey Briskham from Pembroke School as runner-up.

Eleri now moves on to the District 1150 final at Cowbridge, where she will meet the other area finalists from across south, east, west and mid Wales.

Vanessa Tyrwhitt-Walker, assistant governor for Rotary Area 2, thanked Pauline Matthews and the staff of Pembrokeshire College’s catering and hospitality department for hosting the contest, and also the chefs for their professional adjudication and complimentary feedback.
