Alec Colley Cup semi final: Cresselly 2nds (131-9) lost to Haverfordwest 2nds (132-1) by 9 wickets

There was a clinical display from Haverfordwest in the second Alec Colley Cup semi final last night as they beat Cresselly by nine wickets to set up a final clash with Whitland.

The Town restricted The Doves to 131-9 on a superb batting track at Imble Lane, and then passed it with room to spare as good knocks from Dan Cole, Dao Davies and Nitin Mathias secured a nine wicket win.

After opting to bat, the Cresselly innings was held together by opener Scott Arthur, who hit eight fours in his 52 after losing opening partner Neal Williams for a duck early on.

But aside from Arthur, only Matthew Webb (28), Mike Venables (17) and Matthew Lewis (13) got going as Haverfordwest keot the run rate in check, with Chris Phillips (3-19), Nigel Morgan (3-32), Sanjay Gurung (2-47) and Clive Tucker (0-31) all bowling well in their five over spells.

And Haverfordwest then made light work of the total as Davies and Cole put on 73 for the opening wicket, with the latter hitting six fours in his 42 before falling to Josh Lewis (1-37) in what proved the only wicket to fall.

But Davies kept going, picking off gaps at will and making 49 not out (three fours), while Mathias also hit three boundaries to finish unbeaten on 29 - as The Town got home in the 19th over.

It means a final clash with Whitland on Sunday, August 12th at Treleet, Pembroke.
