Cardiff bolstered their squad ahead of this weekend’s Premier League return by completing deadline-day loan deals for Harry Arter and Victor Camarasa.

The Welsh club announced on Thursday that both Bournemouth midfielder Arter and Real Betis’ former Spain Under-21 international Camarasa had been signed on season-long arrangements.

Arter, the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international, had been linked with a move to Watford but opted for the Bluebirds.

He will not be eligible to face his parent club in Saturday’s season opener at the Vitality Stadium.

Arter, who rose from Sky Bet League One to the Premier League with the Cherries, has made 69 appearances in the top flight over the last three seasons.

Camarasa played 26 times for Betis last season, scoring once. He is a product of the Valencia academy and has also had spells at Levante and Alaves.

The pair took manager Neil Warnock’s number of summer signings to six, following the arrivals of Bobby Reid, Josh Murphy, Greg Cunningham and Alex Smithies.
