Dangers of a night in town

10:29am Thursday 19th August 2010

Dear editor, One needn’t go as far as Afghanistan to find danger lurking around every corner. You are just as likely to come face to ugly face with it on Castle Square in Haverfordwest every Friday or Saturday night.

Keep this piece of history alive

9:16am Thursday 5th August 2010

Dear editor, St Botolph’s Mansion near Milford Haven may now be just a shadow of its former elegance, but while passing by the other day, it evoked a reminiscence to me of its early Georgian architecture and I imagined how bustling it must have been, employing many people from the locality in service The Stokes family lived there for generations. I went to Milford Haven library to do some research and discovered that in 1881, Anthony Bowen Stokes, a land proprietor of 200 acres and a Lieutenant Colonel, lived there with five daughters. This in itself would have posed many headaches for the parents.

Dear editor, Your sister paper, the Western Telegraph, reported the gross income raised by the car parking charges for the three months from April.

Switch to help animal welfare

1:15pm Thursday 29th July 2010

Dear editor, As this week is Farm Animal Week — run by the RSPCA’s Freedom Food scheme — I urge readers to spare a thought for more than 900million animals farmed for our food in the UK.
